Terms of Service
The terms for using our website, online booking, chat and text messaging, and for training at the dojo.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of aikidohickory.com (the "Site"), our website chat, online booking calendars, contact forms, and text messaging program, all operated by AikiDojo of Hickory LLC ("AikiDojo of Hickory," "we," "us," or "our"), 2364 Springs Rd NE, Hickory, NC 28601. By using the Site or any of these services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
1. Our services
AikiDojo of Hickory is a traditional Aikido and Aiki Budo school offering martial arts classes for children, teens, and adults. The Site provides information about our programs and lets you contact us, chat with us, and book classes and free trial sessions online.
2. Free 1-week trial
- New students may train free for seven consecutive days in their program, starting on the date of their first class.
- No payment information, contract, or uniform is required for the trial.
- Every student must complete a liability waiver before their first class. A parent or legal guardian must sign for any student under 18.
- We may modify or end the trial offer at any time, and it is limited to one trial per new student.
3. Booking, schedules, and closures
Classes and appointments booked through our online calendar are subject to availability. Class times, instructors, and programs may change, and the dojo closes on certain holidays and for weather or other circumstances. We will make reasonable efforts to notify booked students of changes. To reschedule, call or text (704) 775-3401.
4. Memberships and payments
Membership pricing, billing, and cancellation terms are set out in the membership agreement you sign when you enroll. If anything in that agreement conflicts with these Terms, the membership agreement controls for membership matters.
5. Assumption of risk
Martial arts training is physical activity involving falls, throws, joint locks, and training weapons, and carries an inherent risk of injury. You should consult a physician before beginning any exercise program. Participation is voluntary and subject to the separate liability waiver signed at the dojo.
6. Dojo conduct
Students and visitors are expected to follow instructor directions, dojo etiquette, and safety rules, and to treat others with respect. We may refuse service or end participation for conduct that endangers others or disrupts training.
7. SMS text messaging terms
Program description. When you provide your mobile number and check the consent box on our website chat widget, contact form, free trial form, or booking calendar, you agree to receive text messages from AikiDojo of Hickory. Messages may include replies to your inquiries, class and free trial booking confirmations, appointment and class reminders, schedule changes and closure notices, account and membership notices, and, only if you separately opt in to marketing messages, promotions, events, and enrollment offers.
- Message frequency varies based on your interactions with us.
- Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details on your plan.
- To opt out, reply STOP to any message. You will receive a one-time confirmation and no further messages unless you opt in again. You may also reply CANCEL, END, QUIT, or UNSUBSCRIBE.

- Consent is not required as a condition of purchase, enrollment, or booking.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, and be the account holder or authorized user of the mobile number you provide.
Your mobile information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not share mobile opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
8. Use of the Site
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and to provide accurate information when submitting forms, chats, or bookings. You may not attempt to disrupt the Site, access it by unauthorized means, or submit false, abusive, or unlawful content.
9. Intellectual property
All content on the Site, including text, photographs, logos, and graphics, is owned by or licensed to AikiDojo of Hickory and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy or reuse it without our written permission.
10. Third-party links and services
The Site may link to or rely on third-party services such as Google Maps and social media platforms. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability.
11. Disclaimers
The Site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Information on the Site is for general purposes and is not medical or legal advice. We do not guarantee that the Site will be error-free or uninterrupted.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AikiDojo of Hickory and its owners, instructors, and staff are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or our online and messaging services. Liability for in-person training is governed by the liability waiver signed at the dojo.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AikiDojo of Hickory from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site or violation of these Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Catawba County, North Carolina.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Site or our services means you accept the updated Terms.
